Hazırlanan iddianamede sanık Övüç'ün görüntüsünü paylaşan bir sitenin, "Parmağındaki pırlanta yüzüğü adeta kameranın içine soktu" şeklinde paylaşım yapıldığının tespit edilmesi üzerine soruşturma işlemlerine başlandığı aktarıldı. Murat Övüç'ün savcılık ifadesinde, "Video yaklaşık 2 yıl önce çekildi. Benim bir sanatçı olmam nedeniyle birçok takipçim bulunuyor. Bunların arasında başörtülü kadınlar da vardır. Benim videodaki amacım, bu videoyu onlar için mizah amaçlı çekmek ve onları eğlendirmektir" şeklindeki beyanları iddianamede yer aldı.
